Nursing Norway AS is a significant contributor in addressing the acute nursing shortage that Norway faces. As a facilitator and coordinator in the industry, we specialize in identifying qualified nurses from outside EU, who further their education through an extensive bridging program. This program equips them with necessary language skills and grants them European nursing accreditation via accredited colleges in the Baltics.

According to a report by the Norwegian Bureau of Statistics (SSB), Norway is facing a potential shortage of up to 28,000 nurses by 2030. There is evidence to suggest that the SSB’s estimate is conservatively low. This is due to a combination of an aging population, increasing demand for healthcare services, and challenges in recruiting enough students for domestic nursing programs. For example, data from the Ministry of Education shows that up to 15% of nursing program slots remain unfilled, which further exacerbates the shortage of qualified healthcare personnel.
Today, Europe is facing a critical shortage of healthcare workers, with an estimated shortfall of around 1 million (European Commission). This challenge is expected to increase as the population ages and the demand for health and care services grows. In this context, the strategy of identifying nurses from other European countries is problematic, as it could exacerbate the shortage issues within Europe. By identifying nurses from other EU countries, there is a potential to worsen the healthcare personnel shortage in the countries from which these nurses originate, which could create imbalances in the healthcare systems across the continent. We are aware of shortages of medical personnel also outside EU/Europe, and we are only recruiting candidates that are already working/studying outside their native country and/or already have made a conscious decision of working abroad.

Our bridging program, meticulously tailored to meet the standards and requirements of both Norway and the EU, not only ensures that the nurses are linguistically and professionally prepared but also that they can be effectively integrated into the Norwegian healthcare system.
The program emphasizes intensive Norwegian language training, cultural
adaptation, and professional practice, which are essential for success in the Norwegian jobmarket.
Our approach has proven effective; it not only addresses the immediate staffing needs but also contributes to the sustainable development of healthcare personnel resources in Norway.
By focusing on integration and long-term facilitation for our candidates, Nursing Norway AS is dedicated to being part of the solution to one of the most pressing challenges in the Norwegian healthcare system.
